In fact, I found my way into massage therapy after experiencing firsthand the profound role that bodywork can play in the process of injury recovery. In 2012, I was severely injured as a result of a rock climbing accident. The injury was followed by reconstructive surgery and an intensive rehabilitation. The combination of deep tissue massage, myofascial work, herbal medicine, and movement therapy helped me to consistently reach milestones throughout the recovery process. The extent of my recovery surpassed the expectations of my surgeon, which I attribute to my holistic approach to injury rehabilitation. I already had a deep curiosity for the inner workings of the human body but it wasn’t until my injury that my curiosity carried over into pursuit of education. It is now my passion to share all that I have learned about injury recovery with my community.

When I am not in the studio I am most likely hiking, gardening, experimenting in the kitchen, camping, attending live concerts, working on our home remodel, spinning on my pottery wheel, or spending quality time with my partner and our dogs. I enjoy the simple things in life.

It’s lovely to meet you, my name is Cedar.

I specialize in therapeutic bodywork with a highly personalized approach. I’ve been massaging professionally since 2015 when I graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts

here in Portland, Oregon

My primary focus in practice, is to help others to live more comfortably in their bodies.

I support my clients as they manage their chronic pain, recover from injuries, and relieve the aches and pains of daily life. The bodywork that I provide is deeply influenced by both eastern and western approaches to wellness. I appreciate the holistic, mind-body-soul perspective of eastern modalities, while also appreciating the puzzle-solving approach of western modalities.

Above all else, I intend to help people to live more freely in their bodies, unburdened by malfunctioning movement patterns and chronic pain.

Relaxation Massage utilizes light to medium pressure, smooth strokes, and rhythmic motion to relax your muscles, calm your mind, and improve circulation. This gentle style of bodywork can increase tissue elasticity, joint flexibility, and even reduce pain without the use of deep pressure from the therapist.

While your body melts into the table it will give a clear message to your nervous system that “everything is okay”. Turning off your chronic stress-response in this way benefits your whole system; digestive, respiratory, immune, etc.. You’ll be left feeling calm, grounded, centered, and peaceful.

Massaging Woman’s Neck. Deep Tissue Massage.

Deep Tissue Massage is one of the most effective methods of reducing chronic pain, improving joint mobility, and restoring normal muscle function. Using slow, deep, strokes to target the deeper layers of one’s muscles and connective tissues. It can serve to break up scar tissue and muscle adhesions, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, restore range of motion and relieve chronic pain and stiffness.

Deep Tissue is often recommended for clients with chronic pain due to repetitive stress injuries, involved in heavy physical activity and/or clients who are experiencing limited mobility.

Feet Giving Ashiatsu Massage

Ashiatsu style massage originated in Japan and the word translates to foot-pressure. The therapist, using bars on the ceiling for stability, provides deep, broad, and consistent pressure utilizing their feet, body weight, and gravity. Gravity enables Ashiatsu therapists to deliver up to 3x deeper pressure than with traditional hands-on treatments. Utilizing the broad surface of the foot as a massage tool provides consistent pressure and contours nicely to the body.

Ashiatsu is not suitable for everyone. Due to the compressive nature, therapists take extra precaution with certain client conditions.

Energy Healing addresses the human bio-energetic field, an electromagnetic field that surrounds and permeates the physical body. Practitioners work as an energy conduit interacting with the client’s energy centers. An energy healing session will gently guide you out of fight-or-flight and into parasympathetic. Restoring harmony to the body, mind, and soul, allowing for true healing to occur.

Energy healing is never contraindicated and is beneficial to everyone. Energy healing is a wonderful option when massage is not possible due to recent surgery, cancer, etc..

ONE HOUR means 60 MINUTES

AT RHYTHM + BALANCE

Yes, you read that Right, our 60 minute massages are actually (at least) one-hour long

You might think it would go without saying, but most massage businesses offer a "spa hour". Which means the time it takes the client to do intake, undress, redress, and checkout is included in the "hour long massage" that they are paying for, which only allows for 45-50 minutes of hands-on-massage time. We take great pride in the fact that all session times stated are actual table times. As long as you arrive early for your session, you get every minute you pay for in actual bodywork, so please be sure to allow yourself some extra time when you schedule your appointment. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early for your first visit, and at least 5 minutes early for subsequent visits.

“I've been coming to Cedar for massage therapy for years now.

She has an intuitive way of listening to the body and providing

deep tissue massage without leaving me sore or depleted afterwards. Her style of bodywork is slow and grounding and I always leave feeling relief and refreshed. I love the intention she puts into her space, it's warm, inviting, and the massage table is perfectly cushioned and comfortable.

I can't recommend her enough.”
